Weed Information Management System (WIMS) Developed by The Nature Conservancy and BLM, this is available free of charge. This system provides land managers with an Access database customized for tracking invasive plant locations and treatments. It has an ArcPad component which can be used in the field with a hand-held unit. There are software and hardware requirements to run WIMS. ESRI ArcPad ESRI, the company that makes ArcView, also makes ArcPad, mobile GIS software for handheld computers, such as the Pocket PC. Some researchers in California used ArcView and ArcPad for mapping invasive plants. |
